BEYOND TRACEABILITY: USING VISUAL AI TO VERIFY ELECTRONIC COMPONENT PROVENANCE

Tuesday 10:00 AM - Room A

Program Description:

As electronics supply chains become more complex, documentation-based traceability alone is no longer enough to ensure that every component assembled onto a product is authentic, approved, and exactly what it is expected to be. Unexpected substitutions, sourcing inconsistencies, and documentation gaps can remain invisible until late in the manufacturing process - or even after deployment. This session explores how Visual AI is changing the way manufacturers verify hardware. By analyzing the physical characteristics and markings of every assembled component directly from standard AOI images, manufacturers can validate component provenance, identify unauthorized or non-conforming parts, detect assembly deviations, and generate unit-level digital evidence - without slowing production or adding new inspection hardware. Attendees will learn how image-based verification complements existing quality and traceability processes, helping manufacturers strengthen supply chain confidence, improve production visibility, and build trust in every assembled product.
